How are you faring today? The sun is shining but it is fairly fresh outside – I am in desperate need of some cardigans/ jackets/ capes/ warm things now that we are coming into a cooler autumn. Trouble is, given my obsession with super bright colours, all my seasonally-opposing clothing will have to come from somewhere on the other side of the world where they are about to step into spring, and neon and candy colours are rife in stores and online! What are your favourite online stores for swishy skirts, bright colours and polka dots?
My unexplainable obsession with bright colours is something that I really love about my own Mess. My Mess defines who I am, it says something about my personality, and I’m a firm believer that the colours you choose can affect your mood and the moods of others. To use a tired and well-used cliche, ’fashion comes and goes, but true style remains the same’. It doesn’t matter what shape, fabric or print is trending at any given time – the fact remains that if it comes in something ludicrously bright and just a little OTT, I want it to be in my wardrobe (regardless of what season it is and whether or not it’s appropriate to wear neon orange in the bleak and blustery depths of the South Australian winter). It’s that impulse that makes up a great deal of the way that my Mess has evolved from my early childhood to now.
However, there are some other elements of character, aesthetic and personality that really contribute to true style. And hell, if you’re going to make your Mess beautiful, you may as well do it with a stylish kick! True style comes from making aesthetic and character-defining choices that make you feel great about yourself and your own life. While we all borrow aesthetic elements from celebs, friends, family, random publications, the web … don’t forget that every time you browse the net for the perfect so-and-so, you are contributing to making subconscious aesthetic choices that really reflect your own Mess. Take the time to neatly finished a coloured lip - no feathering or sloppy smooches!
Respond promptly to emails and text messages

Carry your handbag in the crook of your arm – MK Olsen style. Fab.
Interestingly edit your videos/ video blogs (‘vlogs’)
Select appropriate ringtones, message tones and notification sounds for you phone
Say ‘please’ and ‘thankyou’ with a fabulous, winning smile
Wear unexpected hairpieces
Carry – and use – dry shampoo. Avoid the oil slick.
Tuck a miniature emergency sewing kit into your handbag
Drink wine in the bathtub
Make an unexpected phone call
